Food and Drink Policy

At breakfast and snack times, we aim to provide nutritious food, which meets the children’s individual dietary needs. We aim to meet the full requirements of Ofsted’s Care Standards on Food and Drink.

At Little Country Lovers we will supply children with healthy snacks every morning.

For lunchtimes,  parents will provide their children with a packed lunch complete with icepacks and a bottle of water.  Children will be able to top bottles up throughout  the day

In order to maintain the highest standards of food preparation and storage the following procedures will be followed:

  • We will consult with children on their favourite fruits
  • Any fruit for snacks will be washed prior to arrival and stored in the fridge in a sealed plastic bag.
  • Gloves and aprons will be used for food preparation
  • Fridge temperatures will be checked and recorded daily
  • All staff preparing food will have a Food Hygiene certificate
  • We will notify Ofsted of any food poisoning affecting two or more children cared for on the premises. Notification must be made as soon as is reasonably practicable, but in any event within 14 days of the incident

NB  The above procedures will also apply to those children attending our breakfast sessions.

We will ensure all staff are made aware of the 14 Allergens:
